IMF’s Lagarde Urges Leaders to De-Escalate Tensions

At a news conference to open the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde on Thursday urged world leaders to cooperate and “steer” toward a more inclusive and sustainable expansion.

“To achieve these goals, we need a stronger international cooperation as well. I am going to quote Balinese again, and I will promise to translate this time. Menyama braya, which means that everyone is a brother or a sister of the other. So, we are all joining hands and we are on that same boat, which should be steered and not drift,” Lagarde said in a news conference at the open of the meetings in Bali, Indonesia.
