Brazil formally nominates Goldfajn for IDB post

The Brazilian finance ministry formally announced on October 24 that Ilan Goldfajn will be Brazil’s official candidate to lead the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The IDB board of governors will elect a new president of the bank on November 20, following the firing of Mauricio Claver-Carone on September 26.

Goldfajn is currently head of the western hemisphere department at the International Monetary Fund, a post he took up at the start of 2022. He served as governor of the Central Bank
