Colombian president appoints central bank board member

Central Bank of Colombia, Bogota

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced on December 2 that he had named Olga Lucía Acosta to the board of the central bank. Acosta will succeed Alberto Carrasquilla, after the country’s highest administrative court annulled the 2021 decree that appointed him.

Acosta currently works as director of the Bogotá office of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). She holds a master’s degree in development economics from the University of Paris-Sorbonne. She
