Madagascar central bank has new governor

The Central Bank of Madagascar

Aivo Andrianarivelo has been appointed governor of the Central Bank of Madagascar after Henri Rabarijohn resigned.

The central bank announced the news on January 4. It said Rabarijohn, who took office in November 2019 and had almost two years remaining in his term, had stepped down “for health reasons”.

Andrianarivelo has been an executive director at the International Monetary Fund since February 2020. In Madagascar, he headed the Portage and Privatisation Fund between 2008 and 2020.
