Jamaica’s finance minister, Nigel Clarke, is set to become a deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The institution’s managing director, Kristalina Georgieva, put Clarke’s name forward to the IMF’s executive board on August 26. Provided the board approves the appointment, he will take over from Antoinette Sayeh, who retires on September 12. His appointment would be effective from October 31.
