Households ‘open’ to digital euro regardless of holding limit – ECB – Central Banking

Customers would only allocate €500 of €10,000 gift into digital euro, study finds

Eurozone consumers may already be open to the idea of a digital euro.

New research authored by Dimitris Georgarakos and colleagues from the European Central Bank’s monetary policy research department used the bank’s consumer expectations survey to understand attitudes towards the central bank digital currency.

Results published in the ECB research bulletin on December 22 show that about 45% of respondents would use the digital euro, with those aged 18–34 being the most likely to take on the CBDC.
