Backdrop to energy shock ‘more benign’ than in 2022 – Lagarde

The Middle East energy crisis is unfolding against a better backdrop than the one that prevailed four years ago, Christine Lagarde has said.

In a speech opening the European Central Bank Watchers Conference in Frankfurt today (March 25), the ECB president outlined the macroeconomic conditions against which the energy price spike was likely to unfold over the coming months.
