Austria’s central bank and finance ministry have nominated Helmut Ettl to become executive director of the International Monetary Fund for a two-year term beginning on November 1. Ettl is currently a member of the European Central Bank’s supervisory board and a member of the executive board of Austria’s Financial Market Authority. Since 2023, he has served as vice-chair of the board of supervisors at the European Banking Authority. He was previously head of the banking supervision division and
