Hungary’s newly elected prime minister has said he will not seek the removal of the central bank governor, Mihály Varga.
At his first international press conference following his party’s landslide election victory, Péter Magyar said on April 13 that Hungary was in a “very difficult financial and economic situation”. He believed the Central Bank of Hungary (MNB) was following its mandate of ensuring stability, though he noted that he could be “persuaded otherwise”.
