The former central bank governor and premier of China, Zhu Rongji, who during his time in government oversaw a period of significant economic reform, has died. He was 97.
The Chinese government announced Zhu’s death on August 12 via state media and said that the former premier had passed earlier in the day due to an unspecified illness. He is survived by his wife and two children.
