The Bank of Mauritius has appointed Priscilla Muthoora Thakoor as its first-ever female governor.

Her appointment was announced on September 25 in a statement from the office of the country’s president, Dharambeer Gokhool. Thakoor joins from the International Monetary Fund, where she worked as a senior economist in the Middle East and Central Asia department and as an adviser on the institution’s Mauritius-based Africa Training Institute.
